How it works
Community Collective turns trusted local information into Community Support Toolkits people can use right away, online or on paper. Here is the whole model, from the community sharing what it knows to a family holding clear next steps.
1. The community shares what it knows
Partners and contributors submit local resources and updates to the Collective. Join the Collective
2. Community Collective brings support together
Resources are organized by need, location, eligibility, cost, language, and access.
3. People find what fits
Families and helpers can search trusted local support without scouring multiple websites. Type what is needed in everyday words, like “food tonight” or “rent help”, add a school, city or ZIP code, and get a short, ranked list of places to start. Find resources
4. They build a Toolkit
Selected resources become one ready-to-use Community Support Toolkit. Use Add to Toolkit on any listing. A Toolkit holds up to 3 resources so it prints on one page and gives the family a backup if the first option cannot help. Build a Toolkit
5. They share it immediately
The Toolkit can be printed, downloaded, texted, emailed, or shared in the format that works for the recipient. Everything opens your own apps, so nothing is sent through Community Collective and nothing about the family is saved.
Save Collections for repeated needs
Helpers can save reusable groups of up to 12 resources as Collections, for example “Food Support Near Line Creek”, and build a new Toolkit from one whenever a similar need comes up. Collections live in your browser only, and a collection link lets you move one to another device or share it with a coworker.
What the labels mean
Every listing says who checked it, how, and when. We never overstate how certain a listing is.
- Verified by the organization: the organization confirmed the details, and the date is shown.
- Verified from official source: a steward checked the organization's own website or materials, and the date is shown.
- Community submitted · verification in progress: shared by a partner, a community member or our starter list, and not yet checked with the organization.
- Information may have changed · call first: past due for another check. It stays visible, ranks lower, and asks you to call before traveling.
- Temporarily unavailable and Ended or expired: reported paused, or past its end date.
